April 17 BMS Re-certification Workshop

The DDSB and your Durham Occasional Teachers’ Local is pleased to provide this important re-certification opportunity.

Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) is a course developed to ensure a respectful learning environment at school.  The initial certification provided training and support systems for enhancing desirable behaviour and for understanding, preventing, and coping with undesirable behaviour.

The training emphasized prevention of inappropriate and disruptive behaviour through awareness of factors affecting behaviour, recognition of early warning signs, and the use of calming / de-escalation techniques, but also taught safe physical intervention.

Please wear comfortable clothing and running shoes.

This course is a re-certification event for OTs who are already certified!  Please do not register if you have not taken the initial training.  If you are interested in being trained the DDSB is offering the course on June 5 & 12 – you must attend both sessions.  Wait for the workshop notice in order to register – it will be sent out in May.

NOTE:  THIS RE-CERTIFICATION IS ALSO BEING OFFERED ON TUESDAY APRIL 10TH.   Please register for the date you would prefer.  For April 10th register using the notice sent out for that date.  Currently there are only 3 spots available for April 10th.
