The DDSB and your ETFO Durham Occasional Teachers’ Local are pleased to send you this information about two paid professional learning opportunities. Both events will take place on the PA Day, June 2nd, 2017. You will have some choices about which event you might like to attend so please read this information carefully. The registration notice will come out on Friday, May 05, 2017.
IMPORTANT: If you are teaching in an LTO positions you will be expected to participate in your school’s events for this day…if you are unsure, please speak with your school’s Principal prior to registering.
The first event is a full day event and participants will receive the daily rate pay. Participants MUST attend the full session so if you cannot commit to the whole day, please do not register. This event is presented by ETFO Provincial, entitled: Making Math Happen, and is based on Marion Small’s work. The workshop will be held at the Local’s office, runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and is limited to 25 participants. Light breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. If you attended this ETFO workshop in June of 2016, you are not eligible to attend this event.
The second event is a half day presentation. Participants will be able to choose whether to attend in the morning or the afternoon and will receive the daily rate for the half day. This presentation is titled: Health and Safety – Supporting Staff and Students. The presenters will be a team from the DDSB and will cover topics such as: Who is your Health & Safety Support Team; Recognition of warning signs; Management strategies; What information must be shared; and the Reporting process. These half day events will be held at the Whitby Abilities Center. The morning session will run from 9:00 am – 11:30 am and the afternoon session will run from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. These events are each limited to 150 participants each.
The notices for all three of the above events will come out on the same date and at approximately the same time. NOTE: you may sign up for ONE event only. If you sign up for more than one event you will be removed from all the registration lists and emailed about which event you wish to attend. Limits will be reached fast, so register early.
