Number routines are effective pedagogy in mathematics classrooms and help students with numerical fluency and automaticity.
This session highlights what a number talk is and why it is important in a balanced numeracy program.
Using the support of Sherry Parrish’s book, “Number Talks: Whole Number Computation”, educators will explore number strings, mental math strategies and practical application of number talks within the elementary classroom.
All participants will receive a copy of the Number Talks text book following the workshop. The books may be couriered to a school where you have an LTO or frequently teach; you may pick it up at the office (on a designated day); you may prefer a “porch pick up” at a Pickering location. Only those attending will receive the book.
