The demographics of the Durham region are changing and with it the DDSB’s classrooms as we move towards becoming a more inclusive society. We, as educators, can make a difference by addressing and teaching about issues of social change, social justice, and equity. In this Social Justice Begins With Me workshop you will gain awareness, understanding and ideas on how to address these issues. This workshop will not only introduce you to the Social Justice Begins With Me Resource kit (available in the DOTL Louisa Corby Lending Library) but will help in addressing issues of equity and social justice in your classrooms. You will gain a greater understanding of how to assist your students in developing awareness and understanding of these issues and you will learn how to engage diverse learners by creating classroom environments that are safe, respectful and inclusive. You will also explore lesson plans that are linked to Ontario’s curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Please join us for this timely workshop taking place on November 23, 2017 in the DOTL Meeting Room.
