Know Your Collective Agreement

L16.01 (i) The timetable of the Occasional Teacher shall be the same as the timetable of the teacher being replaced. 
            (ii) (b) On a day when a school does not receive a sufficient allotment of Occasional Teachers to cover teacher absences, an OT may be required to assist in the coverage of classes in the same manner as Regular Teachers, as determined by the school principal;

L16.09   An Occasional Teacher who accepts and reports for an assignment shall be placed in that assignment unless otherwise mutually agreed, subject to L11.02 (rules around call-out errors and cancellation) and L16.01 (above).

MLL Workshop at DDSB

MLL with the DDSB – November 12, 4:00 – 6:30 pm

This session will introduce Occasional Teachers to practical ways of supporting Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) using AI and a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach. Participants will explore classroom-ready tools and strategies that promote inclusive, differentiated learning. The session will also clarify what it means to supply for an MLL Coach or In-School Teacher, with a focus on maintaining routines and ensuring continuity of programming for MLLs.

Town Hall Meeting: Bill 33 & the Role of Trustees in Schools

Join the Durham Region Labour Council on Monday, November 10th for a critical Town Hall discussion about the impacts of Bill 33, the role of school trustees, the future of public education, and how we can organize to fight back!

Join Ryan Tindale as we explore using AI to save you time and energy in teaching. I’ll focus on Google Gemini, which the DDSB now provides. We’ll discuss Chat GPT and other AI tools for the classroom. If time allows, we’ll review a few additional options to expand your tech toolkit.
Artificial Intelligence is here and is not going away. Join us for this learning opportunity and find out ways to use AI to help make your teaching experience easier and use it as an effective tool in stead of a negative hinderance.
